5 Berlin restaurant openings we’re excited about in 2020

2020 year is going to be tasty — we’re quite certain about that. Why? Because these five upcoming restaurant openings are very exciting.

Mani in Pasta

Craft pasta? Bear with us a second, we’re talking about the best pasta makers in town. Very soon — this month, in fact — the Italians from Markthalle Neun are planning on opening their restaurant on Reichenberger Straße. The menu will be broadened a little, but primi piatti, as the Italians call pasta dishes, will continue to be front and centre.

Address: Reichenberger Straße 125, Kreuzberg

Directions: U-Bahn station Kottbusser Damm

KINK

In March, KINK will start hosting diners in their spectacular space at Pfefferberg. The bar has already been open for a couple of weeks. They promise a cool and cosmopolitan restaurant fit for a capital. Which could absolutely work: the owners Oliver and Daniel have two decades of gastronomy experience from London, Munich and Berlin before starting to test their concept through pop-up dinners in 2016 at the Spreestudios.

Address: at Pfefferberg, Schönhauser Allee 176, Prenzlauer Berg

Directions: U-Bahn station Senefelder Platz

Sironi – Pizza di Milano

Sironi’s square pizza at Markthalle Neun already has a truly legendary reputation. In February, supposedly, Alfredo Sironi is opening a restaurant next to his new bakery in Schöneberg.

Address: Goltzstraße 36, Schöneberg

Directions: U-Bahn station Eisenacher Straße

Altes Zollhaus

For the start of spring, chef Marco Müller from restaurant Rutz wants to reinvigorate the rustic inn by the canal. The sommelier taking over the drink side of things will be Hendrik Canis. He returns to Berlin from Hotel Elephant in Weimar. Hiring this calibre of wine specialist suggests the new concept has Michelin-starred ambitions.

Address: Carl-Herz-Ufer 30, Kreuzberg

Ernst Weinbar

Wedding’s Michelin-starred Ernst are famous for their exclusive product-focused cuisine. But now they’re expanding with a (natural) wine bar plus kitchen next door. Name and exact opening date not confirmed yet.

Address: Gerichstraße, Wedding

Directions: S- and U-Bahn station Wedding
