Berlin’s tiger babies won’t be involved in a breeding programme to help save the critically endangered species.
At almost a year and a half, Tierpark’s Sumatran tiger quadruplets look pretty much like fully-grown tigers. Yet they’re still cute, clumsily lolloping around in their enclosure. But now it’s emerged that this clumsiness is not due to their youth, but a serious problem. It seems they suffer from a genetic malpositioning of their knees, which is why the four of them are unlikely to be included in a breeding programme for the critically endangered tigers.
