#CityNews: Cyclists living dangerously in Berlin

More cyclists cross Berlin’s city centre than cars — but they live dangerously. Change is coming, however. Eventually.

8,383. That’s the number of accidents in Berlin involving bikes in 2018. 11 of the cyclists were killed. But despite these numbers, the extension of new, safer cycle pathways is painfully slow. And that’s despite new mobility legislation that explicitly supports furthering cycling infrastructure. The state-owned company Infravelo is planning to spend just €73,000 on two bike paths. But, thankfully, there’s €6.5 million budgeted for feasibility studies and plans.
