We know what’s going on across Berlin’s gastro scene. This week: natural wines, up-and-coming Moabit, and a new restaurant destination for meat lovers at KaDeWe.
What a glorious name: Drunk by Nature is the new wine stall focused on natural wines at Markthalle Neun. It’s run by the wine merchant Suff and has deep roots in the Kiez. Think no added sulfites, no added sugars, cultivated yeasts, and no adjustments or heavy manipulation during the production process — plus bio-dynamically grown grapes.
Address: Markthalle Neun, Eisenbahnstraße 42/43, Kreuzberg | Thu 12pm-10pm, Fr 12pm-8pm, Sat 10am-7pm
Directions: U-Bahn station Görlitzer Bahnhof
And more culinary Zeitgeist, this time however in Moabit. Good Bank, which opened two years ago as Berlin’s first indoor-farming restaurant, is launching its third branch. After two locations in Mitte, it’s now also planning to feed Alt Moabit — and call it an “upcoming neighbourhood”. Well. Around the corner on Wiclefstraße 30, James Doppler, an Austrian-British chef we fondly remember from the restaurant ‘Habe die Ehre’, has opened his charming new venture Wyclef’s, a true Kiezrestaurant.
Address: Goodbank, Alt Moabit 104, Moabit | Mon-Sat 11.30am-6pm
Directions: U-Bahn station Turmstraße
Two Berlin legends come together: Hasir and KaDeWe. The Berlin-based Turkish chain claims to have invented the Döner, and today they’ve branched out into hotels, burger joints and upscale restaurants. Under the moniker of their steak houses, ‘Beef Club by Hasir’, they’re now set to run a (quite luxurious) hot counter on KaDeWe’s gourmet floor.
Address: KaDeWe, Tauentzienstraße 21-24, Charlottenburg | Mon-Sat 12pm-12am
Directions: U-Bahn station Wittenbergplatz
