Slowly but surely we’re reaching Berlin’s darkest season, when the leaves are gone and things get gloomy. But! The city is home to some cosy, plant-filled cafés to help us escape the grey and breathe in some green.
Houseplants are having a comeback. And there are plenty of good reasons for that: plants create a soothing atmosphere, they improve air quality, and with the right pot, they become a design object in their own right. More and more eateries put their plant collections front and centre, proving that the good old houseplant can shape indoor spaces and add some cosiness to any room. Even, and we can’t quite believe we’re writing this, to a shopping mall food court. Yes, for real. So, in honour of our photosynthesising friends and their numerous benefits, here are five spots in Berlin at which to get your green fix — plus the place to go for the most beautifully-designed pots around.
