Sehr cool, die Menschen, die Alice Springs porträtierte. Die Helmut Newton Stiftung im Museum für Fotografie will jetzt die künstlerische Leistung der Fotografin würdigen, die vor zwei Jahren starb: mit rund 200 Aufnahmen umfassenden Retrospektive. Im Mittelpunkt stehen Porträts, die Alice Springs von Kolleg:innen machte wie Richard Avedon und Sheila Metzner sowie von Schauspieler:innen, etwa Nicole Kidman und Liam Neeson (Abb.). Ein Vergleich von Alice Springs‘ Fotos mit denen ihres Mannes Helmut Newton im selben Haus bleibt nicht aus.
